Consultation Fees

 

Karuah Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice.

 

Patients will be informed of out-of-pocket costs for the health care received.

 

Our fees are as per below:

Patients with a concession card and children under 16 years of age are bulk billed.

 

A skin check-up is bulk billed.

 

Additional fees apply for procedures.

 

Please ensure you update your patient details upon arrival at our practice.

 

Home visits

Home visits are available upon request. Home visits will be at the doctor’s discretion and will incur an additional after-hours fee.

 

Walk-in appointments

Walk-in appointments are available for urgent care and will be triaged appropriately. In the case of an emergency, delays may occur in the wait times. Patients will be advised in the first instance.

Medical Records

Should you wish to have your medical records sent to another practice, we can provide a brief Health summary free of charge. Should you require the complete medical record, you will need to obtain a ‘Transfer of Medical Records Form’ from the new practice you are attending. Please contact our practice for associated costs. Your health information is encrypted and safe and can only be seen using a medical software program. You may wish to access your Shared Health Summary through your My Health Record.

 

Privacy Policy

Karuah Medical Centre adheres to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) that regulate how private sector organisations manage personal information. These APPs cover the collection, use, disclosure, and secure management of personal information. They also allow individuals to access that information, and have it amended if it is incorrect. Karuah Medical Centre has in place practices, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with these APPs.

Karuah Medical Centre manages all patient records with a high degree of confidentiality and always adheres to privacy law requirements. 

 

Karuah Medical Centre only collects personal information that is necessary for providing optimal quality medical care to our patients.

 

Karuah Medical Centre obtains this information with the patient’s consent and awareness of the purpose for its collection.

 

If information is collected from a third party on behalf of a patient, Karuah Medical Centre will take steps to notify the patient that this information has been gathered and how it will be used and stored.

 

This personal information is only used or disclosed with the patient’s consent during the provision of this care.

 

Karuah Medical Centre ensures anonymity is maintained and where required, legal and practicable, is willing to enable the patient to use a pseudonym.

 

Karuah Medical Centre will not use a government identifier, such as Medicare number, to uniquely identify a patient. The exception to this is the individual Healthcare Identifier.

 

Karuah Medical Centre takes every care to ensure that this information is accurate, complete, and up to date when collected and used.

 

All information is kept in a safe manner, which prevents misuse, loss, and unauthorised access.

 

Information collected will not be disclosed or used for direct marketing unless consent has been given or it would be reasonable to expect this information to be used for this purpose.

 

Personal information that is no longer required is destroyed in accordance with Karuah Medical Centre Disposal of Records Policy.

 

Karuah Medical Centre will also destroy any unsolicited information that is received that is deemed inappropriate for Karuah Medical Centre to receive and is unnecessary for the care of the patient, if it is lawful.

 

Karuah Medical Centre will not share your personal information with anyone outside Australia (unless under exceptional circumstances that are permitted by law) without your consent.

 

Karuah Medical Centre will, on request, make every effort to provide patients with details of personal information stored, for what purpose, how it is collected, held, used, and disclosed.

 

Access to and correction of this personal information will be made available on request by the patient and reasonable steps will be taken to ensure that incorrect information is rectified. 

 

Karuah Medical Centre will make every effort to make patients aware of our Privacy Policy and will provide a copy of this policy upon request.

 

Karuah Medical Centre requires its employees to observe and adhere to the APPs and all staff/contractors sign a confidentiality agreement on commencement of employment.

How to provide Feedback

We encourage and welcome patient feedback, so we can continue to improve our services. If you would like to provide anonymous feedback you may do this via our ‘suggestion box’ located within the practice or by phone. All complaints will be dealt with the strictest of confidentiality. If you have a complaint, it is advisable to speak directly to the Practice Manager, or the doctor, thereby ensuring prompt attention to the problem. Should your problem remain unresolved, you may contact the Health Care Complaints commission on 02 9219 7444.
